AMERICAN HEALTHCARE IS ALREADY HERE
President Trump recently declared that the NHS would be on the table in any trade deal negotiations. Conservative Party ministers stress that the NHS is not for sale. Jeremy Corbyn has said that he will not stand for the NHS being offered up to American corporations.
But what appears to have been missed is that regardless of Brexit, the NHS is already up for sale and the American Corporations have already been here for years.
Under the media radar, America’s largest insurance company UnitedHealth Group and its technology and product focused arm Optum has been quietly and steadily embedding itself into the fabric of the new NHS right under the noses of the Great British public, and next month, courtesy of a new GP contract, the US model of healthcare begins in England.
This has occurred under the watchful eye of Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England and former President of Global Health for UnitedHealth Group.
“Primary Care Networks” and the new GP contract are designed to convert the NHS into the notorious US insurance model.
